Re:Structure - Ça change ?

Re:Structure - Ça change ?
A collaborative project with Thomas Hauser and Olivier Knur

Re:Structure is a modular design project developed during the Collaboration + Co-Creation module at the Schule für Gestaltung Bern + Biel. The starting point was an existing mobile scaffold owned by Labör, a collective focused on circularity, culture, and community. Our challenge: how to store the scaffold when not in use — and more importantly, how to make it useful again.
Rather than leaving it idle, we chose to revalue the structure through functional transformation. By designing and integrating custom-cut wooden panels, we enabled the scaffold to shift between different furniture configurations — from storage units to seating or presentation surfaces. The structure remains mobile and reusable, but now serves multiple everyday purposes for Labör’s space.
From construction to design object
A key part of the transformation was visual. We developed a dedicated color concept to move away from the scaffold’s raw, industrial look and give it a strong identity as a design object.
The color palette includes:
Deep blue to emphasize the scaffold’s robust frame
Soft rose to contrast the technical look and bring warmthLight cream to add brightness and openness
Dark blue-violet to create visual depth and continuity
The result is a versatile, modular object that bridges function, aesthetics and sustainability — turning a dormant structure into an active, expressive part of Labör’s everyday environment.
